Fleurs Fantomes

PureandApplied_FleursFantome_5258

Our fourth collaboration with the artist Gabriel Orozco documents Orozco’s in-situ paintings at Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, France. Orozco’s work was inspired by the wallpapers and tapestries found in the Chateau’s rooms (which have not been publicly open since 1938). For the book, the artist edited his photography to “move” the reader through the installation in the Chateau. The book was printed on uncoated paper, and the cover on textile, to convey the softness and subtlety of the palimpsests of wallpaper. These material choices also amplified the book’s tactile and haptic attributes. Texts were set in French and English.
